Lobby the government and encourage others to do the same. Taichung's city council has voted to prohibit dirty coal and reduce emissions 40%. We shall see. Taiwanese are increasingly concerned over this issue and it is becoming a political focal point. Keep up the pressure.

Good luck and happy cycling.NONEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00312011183953017842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6203074149634807485.post-61092730605891533832016-02-07T06:44:40.003-08:002016-02-07T06:44:40.003-08:00Andrew, thank you for a thoughtful and informative...Andrew, thank you for a thoughtful and informative article. I had no idea about many of these factors, e.g. 6 major coal-fired plants in central west Taiwan. I live in Longtan and bike a lot. I love the variety of roads and terrain here. I want to continue valuing my cycling habit as a healthy indulgence. What to do?
GeoffPrinceofClydeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16771933640189615958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6203074149634807485.post-26607326915659229012015-04-23T18:03:53.524-07:002015-04-23T18:03:53.524-07:00You may be right. It is also in Taiwan's long term strategic interests for energy independence. Although power consumption is agnostic, the current situation is largely about patronage networks and all the mouths they feed from extra-legal networks and agreements. Maybe...2.5 million micrometers equal to 2.5 meters. Maybe it is just 2.5 micrometers. I agree with you that something needs to be done about the air pollution. But what do you think about the side effects of quick implementations of renewable energy replacing the the current industrial dependency on coals? I am thinking about the problems that overweight people face when they drastically change their diet from high fat / salt foods to healthy organic foods. It usually end up deeply upsetting their body and mind that they quickly gave up the health food diet.Hermannoreply@blogger.com
